Sensory bin - colored rice
I love finding new activities for my two-year-old. I found an idea for colored rice. He helped to 'make' it and we threw a few dinosaurs in the bin when everything was ready. He loves it!
Cut-out chocolate chip cookies....yum!
I wanted to try something besides the traditional cut-out cookies and I found these! They were fun to make and who doesn't like chocolate chips?
Surprise, surprise! Dinosaurs and sharks!
Piper's 'pretty in pink' Room
I went a little Pinterest crazy with Piper's room. I started out with a striped accent wall, a paint chip mobile, pinwheels, rewiring and painting a chandelier, redoing a lamp shade with ruffles and DIY flowers (out of the curtain material), and restaining the furniture.
Cinnamon Ornaments
I wanted to let my little guy use up some energy and decided to try one of the cinnamon ornament recipes. They came out pretty well, but a little thin. When I make them next year, I will make them thicker. A few cracked before getting on the tree.
Here are our Christmas sharks and T-Rexes. ( or is it T-Rexs - spell check says T-Rexes). Either way, it isn't Christmas without them!
Recipe
1 cup cinnamon
1 cup applesauce
Bake at 200 degrees
(Don't forget to poke a hole with a straw in each so you can put string through to hang them.)
Dino Family - DIY Dino Costumes - Dino Sweatshirts
Chase wanted to be a T-Rex for Halloween this past year. Because I love to make things as stressful as possible for myself (and to save a bit of money), I decided to make him a dinosaur costume. Then, if I make him one, I might as well make Piper a matching one. If I make Chase and Piper one, I might as well make me one. If I make Chase, Piper, and me a dinosaur costume, I have to make Daddy one to go along with us! I'm very happy with the result, soI won't complain.
These are SUPER easy and I literally made them all in a few hours. I even made Chase shoe covers because he wanted Dino feet.
And some Dino love!
Piper's 1st Birthday
I decided to make a tutu for Piper's first birthday. I wanted to make one that had ribbon on the ends and I wanted it 'nicer' than the tie-on ones. I've made the tie-on ones before and they are great for some purposes, but I definitely prefer the ones involving a sewing machine. (From my experience, the tie-on tutus end up a knotted mess at some point.) This was surprisingly easy and I knew it would last the length of my sentimental obsession with keeping every little thing my kids touch. :)
I also made a ruffle butt on a onesie and a party hat! I'm pretty happy with the outcome! She looked so stinkin' cute in it as well...if I don't say so myself.
Welcome to Dill Chipples - everything DIY! My name is Natalie. I am addicted to Pinterest. I love to do anything DIY. I am a middle school math teacher by day and I sew and craft by night. (Who am I kidding? I have two children under the age of 3, so I sew/craft whenever I get the chance. I'll be honest and say it doesn't happen very often and it could be any point throughout the day.) I love to DIY gifts and sometimes I use this as an excuse to get my husband to watch the kids for an hour while I 'save' us money and make a present rather than buy one. :) I've had a goal for a long time to start a blog to act as a journal and to keep track of ideas and projects I make along the way. If it attracts a few people as well, I'd be happy with that. Enjoy and have a fabulous day!
